My Thought on My Little Pony's "The Storm King"
I’ve got something to say about this guy right here:
Storm King is awesome! Extremely laid-back, a dry sense of humor that makes him so funny, as well as a personality and maliciousness that makes him unlike the other villains before him, he’s the villain every child and MLP fan has been waiting for in the franchise since Lord Tirek. When I look into his eyes, particularly at the moments where he creates that tornado in Canterlot, and when he’s about to disintegrate Tempest and Twilight, I also can’t help but see a sort of merciless, murderous, and destructive side in him, as if death and destruction are things that he particularly enjoys causing.
Liev Schreiber did an awesome job at performing the character, and I’ve actually never even heard of him until this movie came. He gave his performance such a great sense of commitment and enthusiasm, making him scary with a classic villain feel while also adding in sides of humor in the Storm King’s personality, and it looks like he had a lot of fun with the role he played.
I can also tell that the people who created him had a lot of fun with the character.
I felt so engaged by every moment he had and every line he said. If anyone asks me who I think is the best and most evil villain in MLP, I’ll say with all honesty that my vote goes to the Storm King.
I know his defeat at the end seemed like he’s now dead, but, I really hope the Storm King comes back someday.
To all MLP People on board the series:
Please. Please give the Storm King another chance to shine. A few minutes on the screen just wasn’t enough, and he has a lot of potential for another appearance. Perhaps even more than one. I think this series should one day have more storms by the Storm King. To me at least.
Along with that, I’ve read complaints from a lot of people that he didn’t shine enough as a villain compared to Tempest Shadow, and that he didn’t get enough screen time and development. Some have even gone so far as to say that he was like an overgrown man child and nothing more, so...please. Please bring him back at some point. He deserves so much more than what he already has when it comes to being a villain.
When I look at the Storm King, I often feel like I can see exactly what kind of character he is despite his lack of screen time. A character completely unlike that of Lord Tirek and Queen Chrysalis, far from redemption, and with intentions far larger than his predecessors. But, others I’m afraid have been unable to see him like how I can, as well as for how you guys obviously all vision him.
I hope that this can at least convince, or at the very most encourage you, to give him more exploration and appearances.
To everyone who is now reading this, I hope you all liked my critique about the Storm King. I can't help but even start to wonder if you all will be thinking the same about this villain as me after reading this.
